First up is our annual Wingless Weekend sponsored by the Virginia District and following that is our own chapters annual Polar Bear Run, last year we made it a huge event, this year we are planning a few different and new ideas to include food, different route to ride and a different place to hold it.

This year we are planning to hold it at accross Princess Ann Park right next to the farmers market. Hope to see everyone there. HERE IS THE FLYER FOR MORE INFORMATION

Chapter A from Burke came down and took the Region and District Plaque, good on them. It should be available at there next event on the 17th of September.

The Chapter newsletter is posted for your reading pleasure, and some upcoming rides are posted on the rides page. I'm hoping to have the calendar fixed this weekend so events will be on there also.

Some information to pass on about oil, this is a subject with lots of opinions but figured I would put it out and let you make up your mind. Alot of folks are using AMSOIL as I have been but due to pricing its getting way out of range, if your looking for a cheaper alternative, get Honda oil from Honda of Norfolk they still are priced will and if your a member of the Chapter you get a discount, or you can stop by Walmart and pick up:

Mobile 1 extended life - 26.00, 5qt
Pensoil extended life - 17.00, 4qt
Valvoline MAX Life - 18.00, 5qt

from what I understand none of these contain MOLY so they should work fine. Make up your own mind.

That’s right baby. We did it!

Chapter B took the plaque from Chapter I with Chapter E thinking they were going to get it until they saw us pull up. We left K-Mart at 5:45 a.m. and ran into a little rain after King’s Dominion. While we were at the meeting, the sun came out and during the trip back we didn’t hit any rain until we were nearly home.

We had five bikes and nine people. A special plaque attack thanks goes to Dave Hunter, Glenn and Nanette Mizner, Jim Sexton and Carol Hill, Dennis and Kristen Weston, and Ann and yours truly. It was a lot of fun, we met some nice folks, plus started a ride pot that one of these lucky folks will win during our next meeting.

After getting back we had a meeting at our house to go over some things for the Gilligan’s Island skit for Rally in the Valley. All in all it was a very long, productive day for Chapter B.

The next skit meeting will be held at Nick and Teresa Knox’s home on Friday, August 19 at 7 p.m.

The next plaque attack is a little trickier. It is the Region Plaque held by Chapter Y in Leesburg. I don’t know Y, but it would B nice to have it at our next meeting too. The attack will be on Sunday, August 21. They meet at 5 p.m., so it will be a late night. I know Jim and Carol are willing to go. Ann and I are celebrating two grandkid birthdays that day. I might be able to leave there early and head there. Please email me (with a yes, no or maybe) and let me know if you are willing to have some fun and capture that plaque for our meeting too.

During July’s meeting, Chapter Directors, Al and Karla Dobbins stepped down due to Al being very busy with the two jobs. Bob and Ann Lutton volunteered to replace them as Directors. Their request was accepted by the District officers.

Chapter Educator, Ray Scott and Bob and Ann attended the Officer Certification Program in Burke on July 30 and 31. The day and a half class was taught by Rick Baker, Pat Hasiak, Debbie Markanich and Wayne Whitworth. It was educational and fun.

July Rides 16th – Chapter U -- We found out the meeting was canceled when we got there. Despite that, it was a great ride with Bob & Ann Lutton, Dennis & Kristen Weston, new member’s Glenn & Nannette Mizner, Dave Seate, Kathi Petit and Ray Scott.

23th – Chapter U’s event -- Held at Ashcake Rescue Squad in Hanover. Participants included Dennis & Kristen Weston and Al & Karla Dobbins.

27th – Ice Cream Ride to Rita’s Italian Ice on Nimmo Parkway. Seven people went on this ride and ate some ice cream, Bob & Ann Lutton, Ray Scott and Burt Biloheau rode bikes while Kathi Petit, Al and Karla Dobbins met us there.

31st – End of Month breakfast at Angie’s Restaurant. 12 folks showed up, Gary & Belinda, Dennis & Kristen, Glenn & Nannette, Nick, Don, Dave & Kathi, and Jim & Joanne, after the breakfast half of the group jumped on there bikes and went on a Short ride into Camdon, NC. Rally in the Valley! Did you register? If not, go to http://www.gwrrava.org/wingless.html and check out what is going on and register today.

The new year is off and running. The Chapter Christmas party was a success although we had fewer people attend this year we did have a different venue and lots of fun. This year we had a DJ, some Karioki, good food and of course the famous gift exchange.

February is approaching fast and of course we have our annual Polar Bear Run. The flyer will be posted soon and is currently in the January Newsletter so check it out.

Wingless Weekend has been moved to Richmond this year. The District decided it would be closer and more centralized ot all the chapters in Virginia, hopefully it will be as successful as the privious ones.

Congratulations to Jim & Carol our new Chapter Couple of the Year. Thanks Dennis & Kristen for doing a great job as 2010 COY, We thinkJim and Carol will do a great job this year.
