21 April 2010

Wow has it been awhile since I really updated this website, I have been updating the newsletters and a few here and theirs but overall nothing.  Sorry about that.  Today, I have checked the links and updated the staff page and will be putting up most of the 2010 photos that we have taken so far, I think that is what takes the longest.

The riding season has started and Chapter B has been out in force.  The chapter had its annual Polar Bear Run in February, March we had Wingless Weekend, April we rode to Chapter “C” and Chapter “L” for their events and won largest chapter for both of those.  We supported and participated in the Annual Tour De Cure last week and followed that with a ride out to Franklin and back, we have even been on a couple pickup rides that were last minute.  In most cases we have had a great turnout by our chapter members for these rides, let’s keep it up.

We still are having our monthly end of the month breakfast’s and just started our monthly ice cream rides, yep, the riding season is here.

Keep checking the ride schedule page for updates and changes, the newsletter will also carry planned rides of course.  Two big events coming up that we would like everyone to participate in is the All Chapter Picnic, I don’t have a firm date yet but keep August flexible, then in October it’s the District “Rally In The Valley” and Dennis & Kristen will be participating in the Couple of the Year competition, Just hoping to get as many folks from the chapter out there to support them.  As soon as we hear something on the All Chapter Picnic we will get the info out to everyone.

The District website has the Rally In The Valley LOGO contest rules posted, if you’re interested in participating check them out so you can submit your Logo to District on time.

2 January 2010:

Wow a huge amount of time has gone by since I updated the news on the website, so much stuff going on not only with the chapter but in life as well.

So right off the bat let me say that there have been a few staff updates, Dennis & Kristen have stepped down as Chapter Directors and accepted a position on the National Staff as Newsletter Coordinators, they are also still staying on as Chapter Webmaster and Newsletter Editor, so no they have not dropped off the face of the earth they are still staying involved. Bob & Ann Lutton have stepped down as ACD's due to work and other commitments but they may step back up at a later time. And last but not least Al and Karla Dobbins have stepped up as the new Chapter Directors for Chapter "B"......Yeahhhhhhhh.

Since the last update we have gone to Rally In The Valley, participated in the Annual Teddy Bear Ride for the Blue Knights, have had plenty of rides to go around and of course 4 of us from the chapter went Richmond VA to receive our Prizes for finishing the Grand Tour of Virginia.

Now we are in a new year, what's being planned? Lots of fun thats what, we got our upcoming Polar Bear Run in February, Wingless Weekend in early February, Tour De Cure in April and lots of rides to other events and just plain riding.

We currently hold the Traveling Plaque for District so if you get a chance come on by our next meeting and take it back with you.

See you soon.

21 September 2009:

Long time since the last update, the chapter has done quite a bit since I last updated this page. My work and other web projects have kept me busy so updating this page is not as easy as it used to be.

Well the Fourth of July came and went, the chapter has had some fun rides, all of which are posted in the rides section, we have had quite a few new members join the chapter, we are starting to get a reputation of a chapter that is having some fun. The trip to Harrisonburg was a success as we thought it would be, we got some good riding in and got to spend some time socializing, wish we had more folk join us but I guess the year is tough on everyone due to the economy.

Chapter B of course has won chapter of the year for the state of Virginia, we got our award at the all chapters picnic in August and will get quality seating at Rally in the Valley in Salem VA this year on 8-10 October, hope all of you can make it out and join Kristen and I for some fun.

GWRRA is getting hit harder this year than usual, we don't know if its the economy or just peoples interests shifting from one thing to another, I will continue to as what you like and dislike about GWRRA District, Region and National events so that I can get some feedback to the planners, you can't make changes for the better if you don't know where to fix the problem. Of course there may not be a problem and we need to find that out also. Please take a moment to shoot me a e-mail or call and let me know what you like or dislike about some of the events, things, people, communication, etc. Whatever. Again, likes and dislikes.

Well I hope to see you all at Rally In The Valley this year, as always remember what it was like when you joined GWRRA, lets get that feeling back.

27 June 2009:

Wow its almost been 2 months since I have updated this website, well alot of stuff going on with Chapter B, you can check most of it by reading our newsletters. But of course there has been quite a few things that arn't in the newsletters.

Our end of month breakfasts are getting popular and getting to be like we invisioned them, ride somewhere and eat breakfast, its more of a social event than a ride event. We haven't had a real ride coordinator for the chapter in a couple months so Kristen with the advice from the staff has been setting up alot of the rides, most have been out of the HROT Grand Tour book, and of course we have had some chapter events that we are attending, concentrating on local chapters that support us.

The state has also started a Virginia Grand Tour which a few of us from the chapter have been involved in and when it comes to riding it gives some really good spots to visit, Kristen and I just spent the day getting 6 stamps in the book and attending chapter "D's" Dragon Feast event. Speaking of the event Chapter "B", yes that is us took the traveling plaque so we should have it available at our next social event on July 8th, hope to see some folks there. Cross your fingures as its right after Wing Ding.

I will be updating the picture section sometime this week so come back and check that page out, some great photo's.

We do have some folks that will be leaving for Wing Ding this year in Tulsa, OK which is next week. Our Chapter Couple Al and Karla will be spending some time there with family and helping out National and District at this event, hope they have a really good time, would love to join them maybe next year.

If you havn't signed up for the All Chapter Picnic, make sure you do, Chapter "B" will be getting our award for Chapter of the Year, this award was earned because of envolvement from the chapter. Stay involved, volunteer, help out where you can, ride the Wave with Kristen and I, it will be fun.

Ride Safe!
