2 January 2010:

Wow a huge amount of time has gone by since I updated the news on the website, so much stuff going on not only with the chapter but in life as well.

So right off the bat let me say that there have been a few staff updates, Dennis & Kristen have stepped down as Chapter Directors and accepted a position on the National Staff as Newsletter Coordinators, they are also still staying on as Chapter Webmaster and Newsletter Editor, so no they have not dropped off the face of the earth they are still staying involved. Bob & Ann Lutton have stepped down as ACD's due to work and other commitments but they may step back up at a later time. And last but not least Al and Karla Dobbins have stepped up as the new Chapter Directors for Chapter "B"......Yeahhhhhhhh.

Since the last update we have gone to Rally In The Valley, participated in the Annual Teddy Bear Ride for the Blue Knights, have had plenty of rides to go around and of course 4 of us from the chapter went Richmond VA to receive our Prizes for finishing the Grand Tour of Virginia.

Now we are in a new year, what's being planned? Lots of fun thats what, we got our upcoming Polar Bear Run in February, Wingless Weekend in early February, Tour De Cure in April and lots of rides to other events and just plain riding.

We currently hold the Traveling Plaque for District so if you get a chance come on by our next meeting and take it back with you.

See you soon.

21 September 2009:

Long time since the last update, the chapter has done quite a bit since I last updated this page. My work and other web projects have kept me busy so updating this page is not as easy as it used to be.

Well the Fourth of July came and went, the chapter has had some fun rides, all of which are posted in the rides section, we have had quite a few new members join the chapter, we are starting to get a reputation of a chapter that is having some fun. The trip to Harrisonburg was a success as we thought it would be, we got some good riding in and got to spend some time socializing, wish we had more folk join us but I guess the year is tough on everyone due to the economy.

Chapter B of course has won chapter of the year for the state of Virginia, we got our award at the all chapters picnic in August and will get quality seating at Rally in the Valley in Salem VA this year on 8-10 October, hope all of you can make it out and join Kristen and I for some fun.

GWRRA is getting hit harder this year than usual, we don't know if its the economy or just peoples interests shifting from one thing to another, I will continue to as what you like and dislike about GWRRA District, Region and National events so that I can get some feedback to the planners, you can't make changes for the better if you don't know where to fix the problem. Of course there may not be a problem and we need to find that out also. Please take a moment to shoot me a e-mail or call and let me know what you like or dislike about some of the events, things, people, communication, etc. Whatever. Again, likes and dislikes.

Well I hope to see you all at Rally In The Valley this year, as always remember what it was like when you joined GWRRA, lets get that feeling back.

27 June 2009:

Wow its almost been 2 months since I have updated this website, well alot of stuff going on with Chapter B, you can check most of it by reading our newsletters. But of course there has been quite a few things that arn't in the newsletters.

Our end of month breakfasts are getting popular and getting to be like we invisioned them, ride somewhere and eat breakfast, its more of a social event than a ride event. We haven't had a real ride coordinator for the chapter in a couple months so Kristen with the advice from the staff has been setting up alot of the rides, most have been out of the HROT Grand Tour book, and of course we have had some chapter events that we are attending, concentrating on local chapters that support us.

The state has also started a Virginia Grand Tour which a few of us from the chapter have been involved in and when it comes to riding it gives some really good spots to visit, Kristen and I just spent the day getting 6 stamps in the book and attending chapter "D's" Dragon Feast event. Speaking of the event Chapter "B", yes that is us took the traveling plaque so we should have it available at our next social event on July 8th, hope to see some folks there. Cross your fingures as its right after Wing Ding.

I will be updating the picture section sometime this week so come back and check that page out, some great photo's.

We do have some folks that will be leaving for Wing Ding this year in Tulsa, OK which is next week. Our Chapter Couple Al and Karla will be spending some time there with family and helping out National and District at this event, hope they have a really good time, would love to join them maybe next year.

If you havn't signed up for the All Chapter Picnic, make sure you do, Chapter "B" will be getting our award for Chapter of the Year, this award was earned because of envolvement from the chapter. Stay involved, volunteer, help out where you can, ride the Wave with Kristen and I, it will be fun.

Ride Safe!

04 May 2009

Well it has been a whole month since I have updated the web site, sorry all, lots going on in the month of April. The chapter had 5 or 6 events we rode in or visited, we had other websites to update, and of course I got lazy and sat around changing my motorcycle tires instead of working on this website.

Anyway, I have updated the picture section with pictures from Tour De Cure, Chapter L's Poker Run, Chapter NC-E2's Poker Run, and chapter J's event in South Boston. The Chapter also had a Road Captain course this past weekend and we filled it up with 10 folks, Dave Huey and John Newmeyer from Chapter C came buy and got us all smarter about riding in a group.

As you may know May is Motorcycle Safety Month and we will be having a mall show this month on the 17th to show off the bikes and give out information on safety. June is our overnight weekend up in Harrisonburg, VA...Don't want you to forget about that.

I do have a lesson learned for everyone out there that does there own maintenance, I was changing my front tire out back and snapped the arm on my tire changer.....Lesson....don't leave your equipment out in the weather over the winter, things rust. I did order a new one "Tire Stripper" and it should be here this weekend, has a new type of tire iron that is supposed to work better for the goldwing tires, we will see and I will let you know.

Got some new members in the chapter, hope to see them out on the ride soon, if you see them say hey.

As always Ride Safe, and remember what it was like when you first joined GWRRA.

04 April 2009:

It has definately been a little while since I updated this website. Well I have finally gotten around to it. The new newsletter is posted for your reading pleasure and I have also updated the calendar with the new updated events.

This last weekend we had another fun ride, it was a planned event and took us on about a 200 mile ride through upper virginia, well above Virginia Beach, that counts as upper right? We had a pretty good showing of about 6 bikes, not bad for a windy mild day. Sunday we also had a pickup ride and got out for another 200 miles this time with about 5 bikes, not bad riding weekend. For those of you that missed it, don't worry there will be more to come.

This wednesday is our Social, hope you can come out and join us for some fun. for those that don't know they are workng on the road right in front of the meeting spot so you will probably need to go up the road and do a U-turn if your coming from the freeway or VA Beach BLVD, if coming from Holland you should be fine, see you there.

Two weeks to go for our Assistance with the "Tour De Cure" if you haven't signed up yet or you would like to get ahold of Jim Clagett, he can always use the help and find a spot for you, I am hoping for another warm day like last year, I am definately ready for this year.

As always ride safe!

02 March 2009:

February went pretty fast, we had Wingless Weekend, followed up by our annual Polar Bear Run which I might say, turned out to be a total success. We had about 130 folks come out and register for the event, couple of the local GWRRA Chapters came out and of course our friends from the Blue Knights and CMA came out, like I always say when it comes to raising money it doesn't matter who it comes from, we do our best to support those folks and I must say they alway do us well and support us. We decided to try a little something different, kind of a carnival feel and we had 10 games, next year we will have a few more and see what happens.

Our next ride is March 14th, hopefully we will have a large group show up, it will be about a 250 mile run out and back and the weather is supposed to be perfect....around 70 degrees. Our Chapter Directors were supposed to head up to Chapter Y last month but Kristen was sick so they will be attempting to get up there this month for those of you wanting to join them.

I have updated the website with the pictures from Wingless Weekend under the video and hope to have the pictures from our Polar Bear run up this week so keep an eye out.

Ride Safe!

09 Feb 2009:

WooHoo. What a time this weekend, We were able to get up to Wingless Weekend on Friday and Saturday and I had a blast hopefully everyone that went from the chapter felt the same way. Chapter "B" won the Best Dressed Male, the Best Dressed Chapter, the Rally In The Valley 2009 Logo Contest, Our Chapter Couple competed in the District Couple of the Year selection and although they did not win they were fantastic and of course we got some folks CPR certs renewed and some other classes signed off. Chapter "C" did there rendition of Cinderella and Chapter "Y" gave us what happened at the Goldwing Bad Bunch's Safety Course.

If you didn't make it you missed a great time. Saturday night after and during the closing and dinner Chapter "B" danced the night away until 11pm.....I know 11 is early for you young folks but we were already keeping Don and Kathy up past there bedtime.

I was able to get quite a few pictures and put together a video with a nice beat dedicated to one of our chapter members. Its posted on the photo page, I only have the MP4 up so you will need QUICKTIME to view it. You can download QUICKTIME here, its free and easy to install, you will get a better picture with it.

Next weekend is our Polar Bear Run, come on out and join use for a couple new games, and a nice ride planned out by our Chapter Educator.

For all those that came out to Wingless, hope you had as much fun as me, see you soon.

Ride Safe!!
